New Delhi, Nov 26: Centre will send a team to Kerala shortly to assess the drought situation in the state and accordingly reckon the scale of central assistance to tackle the situation.
Agriculture Minister Ajit Singh told a delegation from Kerala that the decision in this regard had already been taken and the team would leave for the state soon.
The delegation comprising three Kerala ministers and led by Finance Minister K Sankarnarayanan submitted a revised memorandum seeking central assistance for relief purpose.
Ajit Singh enquired about the extent of damage caused to various crops on account of drought.
Members of the delegation included Revenue and Law Minister K M Mani and Labour Minister Babu Diwakaran.
