Jammu, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir government today announced Rs 32 crore relief for farmers whose crops have been damaged in drought. The relief package would be available to farmers before the starting of kharif season this year, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed told the state assembly during question hour.
Agriculture minister Abdul Aziz Zargar said two committees had been constituted, one each in Kashmir and Jammu division, to prepare contingency plan for combating drought. Answering supplementaries on a question by Mehbooba mufti, minister for finance, planning, and law and parliamentary affairs, Muzaffar Hussain Beig, said the administration would be revamped within a month or two.
He said the PDP government did not effect an administrative reshuffle immediately after taking over as it never wanted to give a signal that those reshuffled were close to either the previous or the new government. Bureau Report
