Kohima, July 22: Nagaland wears another feather in its cap when Ms Chekrovolu Swuro, the renowned archer, booked a berth in the national squad of archery for the Athens Olympics next year.
Ms Chekrovolu, along with Ms Dola Banerjee and Reena Kumari of the Indian women archer squad, created history on Sunday trouncing turkey in the pre-quarter final at the 42nd World Outdoor Target Archery Championship at New York, USA and finished among the top eight women teams alongwith Korea, Poland, Ukrain, Britain, France, Japan and China, who had qualified for the Athens Olympics in Greece. Ms Chekrovolu, a Chakhesang tribe girl, hails from Phek district of Nagaland was selected for the Indian squad following her sterling performances in the regional and national levels. Realising her talent, she was absorved in the Tata Archery Academy (TAA) few years back. The 20-year-old girl had made wonderful strides, endowed with concentration and natural flair, hence could well be India's future star of archery.
Mr Chakrovolu is the second Olympian from Nagaland and she won the glory after 56 years, when Dr T. Ao captained the Indian football team to London Olympics in 1948 where India had finished fourth.

Ms Chekrovolu, who is presently at Jharkhand in TAA, was flooded with congratulations and wishes by her admirers and friends for a good luck in the Athens Olympics, she informed her relatives here.
