In a startling revelation, Chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs K L Verma said custom sleuths arrested two Afghan nationals from Muzaffarpur, Bihar recently who had during interrogation revealed their association with the Osama’s Al-Qaida. Verma held a high-level meeting in Patna with the officials of his department representing various states to draw up strategy to stop smuggling of arms from across the borders.
Special attention was being paid to prevent smuggling of weapons from across the borders from Nepal, Bangaladesh, Pakistan and China keeping in view the growing terrorists activities in India, said Verma.

Verma told reporters after the meeting that the Indo-Nepal border had always been safe corridor for infiltration of smugglers particularly arm dealers and various other outfits operating both in Nepal and India. He said special security bureau personnel had been put on a maximum alert on borders.
Verma said 680 km of Bihar-Nepal border was more sensitive and close watch was being kept to check infiltration of anti-India interests.
