Guwahati, June 20: Six Hmar People's Convention (Democratic) insurgents were killed in an encounter with the Army in Assam's Cachar district today, police said. They said the HPC militants exchanged fire with the Army at Jirighat, where six were killed on the spot.

Arms including an AK 47 rifle, SBBL gun, country-made rifle and ammunition were recovered.

Meanwhile, the district SP and other senior officials have rushed to the site, police added.
