Hyderabad, Feb 07: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to bring the members of the recently-dissolved assembly under the ambit of 'ex-gratia coverage'. Talking to newsmen after the Cabinet meeting here yesterday, Information and Public Relations Minister S Chandramohan Reddy said the coverage would be only for the members of the 11th assembly, which was dissolved in November 2003. He said that usually the coverage was not given to legislators of the dissolved assembly.
Announcing more sops in the run up to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Reddy said the Cabinet decided to release revolving funds to the tune of Rs 75 crore to DWCRA women groups and Rs 20 crore to CMEY groups in the state to target women and the youth, respectively.
In another bonanza for farmers, the state Cabinet would release Rs 130 crore to exempt farmers from paying five per cent of interest on the loans taken by them during Kharif and Rabi season in 2003. To solve the drinking water problem the government had decided to sanction Rs 40 crore for villages and Rs 20 crore for cities. A sum of Rs 50 crore would be sanctioned under 'decentralised plan funds' to undertake essential works, he said. Bureau Report
