Corruption case against ex Mizoram CM in court today
Aizawl, Aug 06: Special judge P Singthanga here has fixed today as the date of the first hearing in the corruption and disproportionate assets case against former Mizoram Chief Minister and State PCC chief Lal Thanhawla.

Besides Lal Thanhawla, a businessman, Jodhraj Baid and his accountant Puspa Sharma were also accused in the case.
While the former Chief Minister was given anticipatory bail by the court of the special judge, Prevention of Corruption Act, in December last year, Baid and Sharma were arrested during the second week of April, but released the same day after they obtained anticipatory bail.
The 25-page chargesheet was submitted to the court by investigating officer John Neihlaia, commandant of the first battalion of the Mizoram Armed Police on April 25.
According to the chargesheet there was prima facie evidence of Lal Thanhawla having allegedly indulged in corruption when in power.
