Raipur, Mar 09: Charging the ruling Congress government in the state of "murdering the democratic spirit by bringing a motion against the deputy speaker" and BJP legislator Banwari Lal Agarwal, opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh today said it will not field candidate for the post of deputy speaker till Jogi government was in office. "BJP has decided not to field any candidate for the post as long as Jogi government continued in the state," party state unit president Dr Raman Singh told reporters here. He said traditionally the post of deputy speaker goes to the opposition in both parliament and state assemblies. "And keeping that tradition, Agrawal has tendered his resignation to maintain and protect the dignity of the post and high parliamentary democracy," Singh said. The BJP leader alleged that Jogi has "murdered" the democratic spirit by bringing a motion against Agrawal and also condemned the undemocratic attitude of Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party (CLP). The party has also decided to inform the presiding officers of Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and the assemblies about the "undemocratic activities" of the CLP and the biased attitude of the Congress party, Singh added
