New Delhi, June 30: Monsoon has not progressed further though it is still going strong and is likely to enter the capital in next three to four days, according to weather officials. Monsoon has not advanced further though it is still strong with a cloudy mass over West Central Bay and North Bay, Dr H R Hatwar from the Indian Meteorological Department said. However, Delhi and nearby areas are still under the westerly winds and the monsoon trough is also not properly defined, he said adding for monsoon onset over Delhi and nearby areas, monsoon trough should be clearly defined and easterly winds should take over from the westerlies. The onset of monsoon over Delhi and adjoining areas in expected in next 3-4 days. Monsoon is likely to strengthen in central India and gradually move towards Delhi even as monsoon good rainfall activity is expected along the west coast during the next two-three days, he said.
Hatwar said monsoon has covered 80 per cent of the country with only Delhi, Harayana, southern parts of Punjab, parts of west up and northern parts of Rajasthan yet to be covered. Bureau Report
