Siliguri, May 27: Suspected Bangladeshi dacoits today killed a youth and injured seven others in a pre-dawn operation in two Malda villages in West Bengal bordering Bangladesh today, a senior police official said. The dacoits were engaged in cattle-lifting when they were resisted by villagers of Jaidevpur and Englishgram, superintendent of police Pankaj Dutta said.

The dacoits, armed with sharp weapons, killed one Amar Mandal and injured seven others, before crossing over to Bangladesh, according to villagers.

The unidentified men also lifted 19 heads of cattle, they said.

Dutta, however, said police were yet to confirm the nationality of the dacoits.
