Mysore, Nov 13: Come November, students belonging to several colleges of Gadag set out on a mission to create awareness among the people on any burning issue. The students’ assignment is an annual affair.
This year, with an aim to create awareness on the Kannada language, land and water issues, 25 students who are also NCC cadets, began their cycle adventure campaign ‘Abhimana’ from Tontada Siddalinga Jagadguru Math in Gadag on November one, the ‘Kannada Rajyotsava’ Day. The campaign was launched under the banner of the ‘Cycle Adventurers’ Forum’, Gadag. Under the guidance of Prof Basavaraj Goravara of Gadag, the students have travelled several places en route Bangalore since the Rajyotsava, stressing the need for preserving language, land and water. After going around the ‘Silicon City’, the students met the Cauvery agitators (Mandya Raitha Hitarakshana Samithi) in Mandya on Monday and sat in dharna with them expressing solidarity with them on the Cauvery issue. The students arrived here this morning from Mandya. Earlier, they had planned meet the Cauvery agitators at K R Circle.
