Cong accuses Centre of sabotaging Babri demolition case
New Delhi, July 31: Congress today accused the BJP-led government of `deliberately sabotaging` the Babri Masjid demolition case to get Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, HRD minister M M Joshi and leaders of the Sangh Parivar out of the case and sought a `substantive` discussion in both the houses on the issue.
New Delhi, July 31: Congress today accused the BJP-led government of "deliberately sabotaging" the Babri Masjid demolition case to get Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, HRD minister M M Joshi and leaders of the Sangh Parivar out of the case and sought a "substantive" discussion in both the houses on the issue.
"Its a bigger conspiracy. Our charge is that the case relating to Advani, Joshi and Sangh Parivar leaders are deliberately being sabotaged as part of a planned conspiracy,” party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters.
He said charging that "Advani and others are misutilising CBI nakedly, unscrupulously and cynically to get out of the Babri Masjid demolition case".
He said that the BJP-led government was trying to confuse the chargesheet filed by CB-CID in Lalitpur court with that of chargesheet filed in Lucknow court.
"These two are inseparable like Siamese twins and any attempt to separate them would meet the fate of Iranian twin sisters who died in such an attempt."
Congress, therefore, wanted a substantive discussion in both the houses of Parliament on the matter as it could not be a passive witness to the "massive fraud, which is nothing but a fraud on the criminal justice system of the country", he said.
Parliament too could not remain silent but to take a note of the issue when it is in session, he said adding that it was the government's duty to respond to the demand.
"We know that Advani is so thick skinned that he will not resign, but we want the government to participate in the development. The ball, therefore, is in the government's court,” he said.
