The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday threw its full weight behind Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, rejecting the resignations of three Samata Party ministers and resolved that Mr George Fernandes should continue to be its convener.
The 60-minute meeting recommended a judicial probe headed by a sitting supreme court judge into the entire tehelka.com episode which led to the resignation of the defence minister and withdrawal of the nine MPs of the Trinamool Congress from the ruling coalition.
Briefing newspersons, Mr Fernandes said that the probe would cover what all that had transpired or come out all these days following the tehelka.com expose.
He said the three Samata ministers--Mr Nitish Kumar, Mr Digvijay Singh and Mr Sreenivasa Prasad- who were pressing for acceptance of their resignations had been advised to resume their duties.
