New Delhi, Mar 27: National Aluminium Corporation (NALCO) today said it has drawn up an expansion plan of Rs 4000 crore which would shoot up aluminium production to 2.1 million tonnes, zinc metal to 4.6 lakh and power generation of 1200 mw. “We are contemplating an ambitious expansion plan with a total outlay of Rs 4000 crore,” CMD of Nalco C Venkataraman said.
“The expansion plan is under the active consideration of the Central government and would get the sanction within four months,” Venkataraman said in a release here.
Currently Nalco is implementing an expansion plan at an estimated cost of Rs 2,536 crore and would be completed by March 2004.
With the completion of the current plan, aluminium production is expected to reach 1.57 million tonnes and that of zinc metal 3.4 lakh tonnes. Power generation would be of 960 mw.
He said Nalco's profit during the current fiscal stood at Rs 500 crore as against last fiscal's Rs 409 crore.
The company's turnover during the period was Rs 2800 crore out of which Rs 1500 crore was through exports.
