A Delhi Court on Frisday asked CBI to take more diligent steps to secure the presence of bofors chief Martin Ardbo, a key accused in the Rs 64 crore bofors pay-offs case, against whom red corner alert has been issued by Interpol.
“CBI should pursue the matter more diligently so that the trial is not unnecessarily held up,” Special Judge R L Chugh said.
The direction came from the judge after CBI counsel US Prasad informed him that the agency was still waiting the outcome of the red corner alert issued against the Swedish national.
Red corner alert was issued against the former bofors chief after the Swedish police refused to arrest and extradite him saying that the Swedish law did not permit it.

The three Hinduja brothers- Srichand, Gopichand and Prakashchand -- on whose absence on March 30 the court had expressed displeasure -- were present during the proceedings.
