New York, May 25: The weather outside was damp and dismal, but the bride and groom were radiant as former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani returned to New York's official mayoral residence to marry his girlfriend, Judith Nathan, on Saturday. The bride wore an oyster-coloured, silk gown by Vera Wang with crystal and pearl beading. It's the third wedding for former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and the second for Judith Nathan. Current mayor, Michael Bloomberg, presided over the 15 minute ceremony at Gracie Mansion. Some 400 people were invited to the celebrations including media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, Donald Trump and opera singer Placido Domingo. Former New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani said, "I would like to introduce my wife, Mrs. Giuliani. And you can see how fortunate I am - what a lucky man I am as to have such a beautiful lady, and a wonderful person as my wife." Giuliani proposed to Nathan five months after divorcing his wife of 20 years, television host Donna Hanover. The settlement cost him over six and a half million U.S. dollars.

The former mayor's first marriage of 14 years was to his second cousin, Regina Peruggi. Nathan, a former nurse who divorced in 1992, has been at Giuliani's side for the past three years as he battled prostate cancer.

Giuliani's political career, which was at an all-time low, was reborn when the country praised him for his handling of the September 11th attacks on the city. He was subsequently knighted by Britain's Queen Elizabeth.
