Five persons, including two policemen, were killed and five others injured in separate militancy-related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where militants attacked a PDP leader's house and a BSF picket since last night, an official spokesman said in Srinagar today. He said a group of heavily-armed militants, believed to be foreigners, attacked a police party injuring seven cops including five special police officers (SPOs) at Hambal village in Doda district of Jammu last evening.
The policemen were rushed to hospital where two of them, constable Sunil Kumar and SPO Kamal Singh, succumbed to injuries, the spokesman said.
He said militants shot dead two brothers, Ashiq Hussain and Liaqat Hussain at Dalli village in Rajouri district last evening. While Ashiq was killed inside his house, Liaqat was abducted and later killed in the periphery of his village.
The spokesman said militants overpowered personal security officer to Amjad Sharief, contractor, at Badoon-Ghat village in Doda district today and snatched his service weapon. A hunt has been launched to nab the militants and recover the stolen weapon, a self-loading rifle, three magazine and 40 rounds of ammunition. Bureau Report
