New Delhi, Dec 20: Prosecution has been ordered against more than 100 companies for alleged corporate frauds during 2002-03 and a "serious fraud office" is proposed to be set up to limit such offences, finance minister Jaswant Singh said in Lok Sabha today. Details for the proposed serious fraud office to check on cheating of shareholders, depositors and investors are being finalised, he said in a written answer.
The Department of Company Affairs has ordered prosecution of 13 companies for non-compoundable offences in the stock market scam, he said. Bureau Report
