Patna, May 15: Ahead of President A P J Abdul Kalam's scheduled visit to Bihar later this month, senior officials of railway and civil administration were holding a series of meetings of review the security and other arrangements.
The general manager of East Central Railway, R Varshney, held a meeting with the Bihar cabinet secretary, Jayant Das Gupta, and Director-General of Police, D P Ojha, late last evening to discuss security and other arrangement for President's visit.
The ECR GM briefed the cabinet secretary and the DGP about the railway functions at Harnaut and Patna where the president would lay the foundation of rail coach workshop and inaugurate the newly electrified Patna-Gaya section respectively under Danapur, chief public relations officer of the ECR, A K Chandra, said here today.
Senior officials of the ECR would meet Bihar home secretary, B K Haldar tomorrow on the President's visit, he said. Senior officers of Bihar police were also holding regular meetings at different levels to make foolproof security arrangements.
As per a tentative programme, the president would reach Patna on May 29 by a special train from Delhi. On May 30 he would lay the foundation stone for the construction of coach maintenance factory at Harnaut in Barh parliamentary constituency of railway minister, Nitish Kumar, and take part in a number of other programmes, including an interaction with school children at Patna and a visit to Bodh Gaya, official sources said.
