Jehanabad, Aug 06: The CPI-ML (Liberation) sponsored bandh today evoked mixed response here and in neighbouring Arwal district with shops in major markets remaining closed and majority of vehicles keeping off the roads but offices and other government establishments functioning normally.
Majority of shops in the major markets remained closed in the two central Bihar districts. Government and private vehicles kept off the road fearing attack by the bandh supporters.
However, attendance in government offices was near normal, official sources said. CPI-ML activists took out a procession in Jehanabad town to enforce bandh and they also put road blockade at many places on the Patna-Gaya road disrupting vehicular traffic.
Tight security arrangements have been made to keep the situation under control. The CPI-ML is observing bandh to protest a special Tada court judgement on August 4 awarding life imprisonment to 14 CPI-ML (liberation) activists for killing a sub-inspector in an encounter 15 years ago. Bureau Report
