Milan, Mar 13: The official launch of MotoGP team Alice Aprilia took place in Milan on Wednesday (March 12).
Aprilia's riders for this year's MotoGP world championships are former superbike world champion Colin Edwards and Japanese star Noriyuki Haga. Texan Edwards, who is hoping to make important progress in closing the gap between Aprilia and his new MotoGP rivals, was impressive in intensive two-day testing at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit earlier in the year. Although track conditions were unfavourable on the first day, Edwards and Haga managed two hundred high-speed laps on the second day and were able to make some important adjustments to the four-stroke Cube. An unofficial best lap of one minute 33.2 seconds by Edwards equalled Max Biaggi's pole record for the circuit and was just 0.4 seconds slower than the recent time set on the same circuit by Alex Barros on the factory Yamaha.
