Women buy more sexual wellness products than men in February
The study names Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad as laggards in the sale of sexual wellness products.
New Delhi: Women buy more sexual wellness products than men in February, the month of Valentine's Day, says a study.
Women's purchases in the first two weeks of February go up to 54 percent of the total revenue generated by the sexual wellness products industry, compared to 41 percent on an average throughout the year, said the study conducted by ThatsPersonal.com, a seller of sexual wellness products.
"Sixty-one percent of wellness products purchased during the month of February are by females and that too during the first 20 days of February. The cities which witness the highest purchase of sexual wellness products include Bangalore, Baroda, Pune, New Delhi and Mumbai," said the study.
The study names Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad as laggards in the sale of sexual wellness products.
Samir Saraiya, CEO, ThatsPersonal.com, said: "This report is based on 30 months of internal traffic and sales data, customer feedback and interactions and a few qualitative surveys."
The study revealed that categories that dominate female purchases during February are romance products, adult games, edible fun products and sexy lingerie.
"Despite the social stigma that still surrounds the market, Indian audiences are beginning to see this sector as essential and not just something frivolous," said the study.
