Oct 26: Craig Parry fired an eight-under-par 64 to claim a share of the lead with Tim Herron after the second round of the Buick Challenge.

Parry matched his lowest round ever on the PGA Tour, making the most of his birdie putts and even chipping in from about 25 feet and in the rough at the 16th. "The ball kept going in from everywhere," Parry said after finishing two rounds at Callaway Gardens at 13-under 131.

"Today was pretty special," added the 38-year-old Australian.

Herron, the first-round leader, again mastered the front nine of the Mountain View course to score a 68 and stay at the top of the leader board. Phil Mickelson was another stroke behind after shooting a 67, despite struggling on the front nine.

Mickelson bounced back strongly after an indifferent start and made birdies on seven of his last 10 holes.

"There's a lot of birdies out there," Mickelson said. "There should be a 12 or 13 under in one round, not over two." Jonathan Byrd had a 66 and was at 11-under 133, while the group at 134 included David Toms (68), Chris Riley (66) and J.L. Lewis (66). Bureau Report
