Officers reject five year deemed deputation, plan legal action
Telecom officers on Thursday rejected government`s offer of five year deemed deputation in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) and threatened legal action against the government for `discriminating from the rest of the civil services.`
Earlier on the Thursday the Communications Minister Ram Vilas Paswan had told reporters that Indian telecom service officers, who were recruited by the Union Public Service Commission along with other civil service categories, had been offered an extended period of deemed deputation upto five years.
The officers who have been agitating for over a fortnight demanding cadre protection rejected Paswan's announcement and said that they would resort to legal action against the Department of Personnel and Training (DPoT) and the DoT for what they called 'discrimination.'
Paswan said that the transferred employees would continue as 'central government employees' till the date of absorption.
