The beautiful valley town in Himachal Pradesh, Manali, popularly known as ‘Devbhumi’, once again welcomed hundreds of participants who had come, to be a part of Winter Carnival-2001, with open arms. The biggest attractions of the festival were the ‘beautiful floats’ which portrayed Indian culture at its best. 41’floats’ which were taken out in the beginning of the festival where, on one hand, conveyed messages of brotherhood and love for the nation, on the other hand, touched legal and social issues too. The floats projecting the strength of women were appreciated by the audience. Among the highlights of Winter Carnival 2001 were the beautiful dance and drama. Cultural competition was organised for the various teams, which thronged Manali to display their arts. More than thirty teams with 850 artists from all over the country won hearts of the audience with their performances and set the example of cultural unity. Teams from Gujrat, Pune and Madhya Pradesh also participated in the festival but Tamilnadu’s team stole the show away. Bureau Report
