Uma Bharati appeared before the Liberhans Commission on Tuesday in the backdrop of the deadlock in Parliament over the demolition of Babri Masjid issue.
In a statement she said, “I was on the dais and like Mr. Advani told me, I was appealing to the kar Sevaks to get down from the disputed structure. I went behind the disputed structure to appeal to them. I used a megaphone and made an appeal to them. Two-three kar Sevaks came down and said 'Run from here'. The crowd did not let me go near and brought me back."
Ms Bharati had earlier testified before the Commission on November 23. "This is not a dispute of land only. This is a dispute of sentiments," Ms Bharati had maintained.
The Commission's investigations are reported to be in their final stages. Its report is likely to be crucial in deciding the prolonged political conflict over the Ayodhya issue. Union Home Minister L K Advani, Union Minister for Human Resource Development and Science and Technology Murli Manohar Joshi wil appear before the Commission next month.
