Orissa teachers appeal to Governor
The All Orissa Federation of Teachers Organisations (AOFO) on Monday urged the state governor to exercise his power to revoke the government`s decision to cap and freeze aid to all non-government schools and colleges in the state.

AOFTO President Dasarathi Naik and General Secretary Abani Kumar Baral in a joint memorandum appealed to M M Rajendran to ensure an amendment in the elementary cadre rules for giving priority to qualification for promotion to the post of headmaster in upper primary schools. Besides this, appeals were made with regard to retirement benefits, implementation of the fifth pay commission recommendations for non-government college teachers and employees.
AOFTO wanted the revised UGC scales for non-government college teachers, non-deduction of five years from service for career advancement, formation of the state advisory council with representatives of teachers association as provided in Orissa education act and taking over fully aided high and middle english schools as declared by former chief minister Biju Patnaik.
