The families of 50 victims of the Concorde crash outside Paris in July have filed a civil lawsuit in Miami seeking damages from Air France, attorneys have said.

“The lawsuit also seeks to obtain damages from certain US-based companies alleged to have responsibility in the tragedy, including Continental Airlines, Goodyear tire and rubber company, which supplied the tires for the Concorde, and aircraft manufacturer Boeing,” the attorneys said on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Air France said that it had filed a suit against Continental Airlines claiming that a piece of metal from a Boeing-made DC-10 aircraft operated by the US airline had been the cause of the July 25 crash of a Concorde outside Paris.

Lawyer Steven Marks told AFP "Victims have the right to choose the forum, and France is not the best (because) the airline and the manufacturer are partially owned by the French government”. Bureau Report
