Security forces shot dead a hardcore Hizbul militant in Udhampur district and recovered huge quantity of arms and explosives from Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu division since Thursday, official sources said in Jammu on Friday. Army troops came under heavy fire from militants in Doda area of Udhampur district on Thursday and in the ensuing encounter one hardcore militant was shot dead, the sources said. Search for other militants was continuing, they said adding that one AK-47 rifle with three magazines, 85 rounds and four grenades were recovered from the site of encounter. Security forces during search operations in Thanamandi area of Poonch district recovered ten detonators, one IED, one under barrel grenade launcher, a rifle grenade launcher, and ten radio sets besides arms and ammunition, they said. In another incident, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Sunderbani area of Rajouri district during the period. Locals of Kotranka area of Rajouri district informed troops about the presence of two suspicious gunny bags, which turned out to be IEDs, which were later diffused, they said. Bureau Report
