Japan will continue to urge Pakistan to sign CTBT as soon as possible, Japanese ambassador to Islamabad has said.
“We welcome the decision of Pakistan to adhere to moratorium on nuclear testing. However we would like Pakistan to sign CTBT and will continue to urge the country to do so as soon as possible,” Sadaaki Numata, ambassador of Japan said.
“Japan has two goals, one emanates from strong national sentiments against nuclear weapons as they do feel it is important for CTBT to come into force, while the second goal he said is that Japanese people have genuine desire to help the people of Pakistan for their development,” he said.
“We are trying very hard to reconcile with these goals, he said adding that the not signing CTBT is a hindrance in way of getting financial aid and that's why we would like Pakistan to sign it,” Numata told reporters.
