Cable operators in Karnataka have decided to observe a day's bandh on September 20 to express solidarity with the film industry on the issue of abduction of Kannada film icon Rajkumar by forest brigand Veerappan. Karnataka Cable TV Chamber of Commerce General Secretary Amruth Kumar told reporters in Bangalore that they had blocked out various channels, including Tamil, after the thespian was kidnapped, but resumed operations following demand from the public.
The decision to observe a statewide day-long bandh was adopted at a joint meeting of the Karnataka State Cable TV Operators Association and Karnataka State Cable Operators' Welfare Association held in Bangalore on Monday, he said.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce has decided to resume film industry activities from September 25, which remained suspended since July 31 the day after Rajkumar was kidnapped. Bureau Report
