The Supreme Court on Friday sentenced a Chennai-based advocate to six months imprisonment finding him guilty of committing contempt of court for sending a threatening telegram to Chief Justice of India A S Anand over his age issue.
The bench comprising Justice K T Thomas and R P Sethi, however, said the sentence would remain suspended for five years if the Advocate S K Sundaram, a heart patient, gave an undertaking within a month to the apex court that he would not commit such acts of contempt of court in future.
The bench warned the advocate if he committed any such acts in future, suspension of the sentence would be revoked and he would have to undergo the imprisonment.
