Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) would soon issue a new circular appealing to the people to get corrupt officials Trapped, CVC N Vittal has said.
So far I have put the sign board stating that no one should pay bribe or if demanded they should complain to the respective Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs). Now I will appeal to the people to get the corrupt babus' and officials trapped with the help of CVOs, Vittal told a symposium on corruption,
Monday evening.
Stating that corruption existed in all spheres of life, he said even various government schemes and mechanisms only sought to promote the menace. Banking Secrecy Act today prohibits bankers to reveal their defaulters name. Few years back finance ministry started Voluntary Disclosure Income Scheme (VDIS) which gave rebate to defaulters as against the honest tax payers, he remarked.
Similarly, he said the proposed prevention of money laundering bill, which is now pending with Rajya Sabha breeds financial irregularities in certain sectors. I have written to the finance ministry on this but got no reply, he stated.
However, sounding optimism about the state of affairs, the CVC said India can become a less corrupt country by 2002, when he will be relinquishing office. In this context, he said the primary task would be to minimise the influence of black money and reduce political corruption.
