Gang rivalry between the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and the Ali Sena, a private militia of minorities in south Bihar, was behind the massacre of nine people at Narkopit village in Bihar on Wednesday, police said. Ranchi SSP, Gupteshwar pandey said the self-styled 'chief' of Ali Sena, Mohammed Usman who is from Narkopit village was on the MCC hit list.

It is in order to get hold of Usman that the MCC has been repeatedly targeting Narkopi, police alleged. Pandey, narrating the sequence of events that took place Wednesday, said about 25 armed MCC men positioned themselves within half a km radius of the village market and fired selectively targeting suspected sympathisers of the Ali Sena.
