The Mizoram government would continue to deport Myanmarese nationals who entered the state illegally, state chief minister Zoramthanga said in Aizwal on Monday. ''Foreigners are foreigners and those who illegally cross over the neighbouring countries have to be pushed back,'' Zoramthanga, who returned from New Delhi recently told reporters. He said he submitted 32 names of Myanmarese refugees in Mizoram to the centre and informed New Delhi that those deported did not include refugees who came over for fear of political prosecution from the military junta. On the repatriation of Brus/Reangs from Tripura, he said he clearly informed the union home ministry that the Brus left Mizoram not because Mizos pushed them out but on their own will. Electoral identity cards would be issued to all voters in the state, he added. Bureau Report
