A Peoples War Group activist was killed in an encounter with police in Jharkhand's naxalite-hit Palamu district on Saturday, official sources said. The encounter took place when the extremists attacked a police patrol vehicle near Bishrampur, they said.
Earlier, police arrested a PWG extremist during a raid in Rehla police station area in the district, the sources said. Meanwhile, suspected Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) activists abducted three farmers from Tendua village in the district on Saturday, police said.

Over 70 ultras raided the village and kidnapped Baliram Singh, Awadh Singh and Mithilesh Singh, DIG (Palamu range) Parvez Hayat told PTI. A special team under a deputy superintendent of police has been constituted to conduct raids at extremist hideouts to rescue the hostages, he said.

The police suspected the farmers were abducted for their licenced guns, he added. Bureau Report
