The bodies of eight Tamil civilians found buried in a mass grave in jaffna bore deep stab wounds around neck, said a Tamil web site on Thursday quoting from the district medical officer's report.

The victims, in the age group 5-42, died on December 19, the day they were picked up by a Sri Lankan army patrol. The bodies were recovered a week later buried in Mirusuvil, three kilometers north of Jaffna city.
The military has arrested eight Sri Lankan soldiers and an officer, who formed the patrol, and ordered an investigation into the deaths of the civilians. There may be more bodies buried in the area, Jesutha, wife of one of the murdered civilians, told police during questioning.
