He claimed that he received a threat letter from the Qurbani wing of Dera Sacha Sauda. Vishwas, who married Honeypreet in 1991, alleged that since he exposed the illicit relationship of Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his wife, he has been receiving death threats from Dera goons.

He further claimed that the goons have threatened of dire consequences for tarnishing the image of Ram Rahim.

SHO at the Karnal City Police Station, Inspector Rajbir Singh said: "Gupta filed a complaint with the Sector 4 police post here and alleged that an unknown caller threatened to eliminate him. We are examining the complaint."

Several media channels have also reportedly received threat letters from the Dera's 'Qurbani wing' seeking revenge from people, especially journalists and officers of Haryana Police, for speaking against Ram Rahim.

Police are investigating where these threat letters are originating from.

Last week too, Vishwas had said in Chandigarh that he might be killed for speaking against the Dera head.

Honeypreet, against whom the Haryana Police had issued a lookout notice last month in connection with the violence in Panchkula, has been absconding since the Dera chief's conviction on August 25.
