As per latest reports, after being convicted in the 15-year-old rape case, Ram Rahim reportedly demanded that he be allowed to stay in the jail with his third daughter, who is believed to be closest to the Dera chief, among all his children.

A day before his conviction by the CBI special court in Panchkula, a tweet from the official handle of Gurmeet Ram Rahim said, ''We have always respected the law. Even though I am having a back ache, yet abiding by the law I'll go to the court.''

Honeypreet had accompanied Ram Rahim till Rohtak in the helicopter, after the later claimed that he was granted the permission for the same from the court due to his migraine and acute backache. However, it was later revealed that he had lied to the official regarding the court's order.

Before heading to Rohtak in the helicopter, both Ram Rahim and Honeypreet had requested the Panchkula CBI court seeking permission to stay together for the night in jail. While Ram Rahim moved a formal petition, Honeypreet made the request through her lawyer.

The CBI court declined to hear Singh's petition saying it was not for the court to decide if rape convict could have a companion in the jail or not. The court told them only the government or the jail administration could take a decision in this regard.

Honeypreet too reportedly made some phone calls to Delhi and Chandigarh before leaving the place.

After the jail administration made it clear that the jail manual does not allow a woman to be kept with a male convict in the jail, Ram Rahim reportedly threatened the jail officers. He told them if they do not allow Honeypreet to stay with him, he would get them suspended.
