Severe cold in Punjab, Haryana; Adampur in Jalandhar coldest at 2.8 degrees Celsius
Punjab and Haryana today reeled under cold weather conditions with Adampur in Jalandhar being the coldest place with a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius.

A thick blanket of fog enveloped several parts of Punjab and Haryana, reducing visibility to even 50 meters at some places.
UT Chandigarh, joint capital of both states, braved cold weather at 8.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, said an official of the MeT department.
In Haryana, Ambala's minimum temperature settled at 9 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal while Hisar, Karnal and Narnaul recorded their lows at 7.6, 5.2 and 6.5 degrees Celsius respectively, up to two notches above normal.
Minimum in Rohtak and Bhiwani settled at 9 and 8.4 degrees Celsius.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar shivered at 3.1 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala experienced cold weather at 8.2 and 8.1 degrees Celsius respectively, upto three degrees above normal.
Minimum temperatures of Bathinda, Faridkot, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Halwara were recorded at 5.5, 7, 5.3, 5.1 and 4.9 degrees Celsius respectively.
MeT official said there was dense fog in many places including Karnal, Amritsar, Bhiwani, Halwara, Bathinda, Faridkot, causing inconvenience to commuters.
