Haryana`s 63-year-old Chief Minister ML Khattar yesterday rode a motorcycle to review preparations ahead of Amit Shah`s mega rally in Jind.
Jind: BJP national president Amit Shah on Thursday kick-started a mega motorcycle rally in Haryana's Jind district on Thursday, which was earlier cleared by National Green Tribunal (NGT) court.
According to reports, Shah was clicked riding a bike on his way with party workers to the 'Yuva Hunkar Rally' venue in Jind.
The BJP chief is later expected to address the “Yuva Hunkar Rally” which will also be attended by over 1 lakh bike-borne BJP supporters.
Interestingly, ahead of the mega rally, Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar on Wednesday rode a motorcycle to review preparations for the rally and later tweeted a photo of the same.
Khattar also wished the participants of "Yuva Hunkar Rally" a happy and safe journey and adviced them to adhere to the speed limit.
The 63-old BJP leader urged the participants of the rally to wear helmets and some woolen clothes to counter the morning chill.
The Haryana Chief Minister also urged the Jat agitation leaders to withdraw their protest against the rally.
The Jat leaders had been pressing the Haryana government to give more reservation in jobs to members of their community and withdraw cases against protesters, who indulged in violence and arson during the Jat agitation in February 2016.
The National Green Tribunal, which gave a go-ahead to the rally, said that it will keep a close watch on the 'Yuva Hunkar Rally' as one lakh motorcycles will hit the roads of Jind district.
The Haryana government had assured the NGT that only motorcycles with valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates will be allowed in the rally.
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS) has decided to call off its proposed blockade of the bike rally.
Hundreds of security personnel, including Haryana Police and para-military forces, have been deployed in Jind, ahead of Shah's rally in view of the threat by opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) that its workers would show black flags to the BJP chief and protest against his rally.
Armed jawans could be seen in different parts of Jind and some adjoining towns, including roads leading to the venue at Pandu Pindara village, on the outskirts of the Jind city. A few companies of paramilitary forces have also reached Jind. Police and security forces have been put on alert to prevent any untoward incident taking place during the rally.
CM Khattar had personally reviewed the arrangements along with state party president Subhash Barala and Haryana BJP party in-charge Anil Jain.
The rally is being seen as an attempt by the BJP to consolidate its hold on Jind and adjoining areas. Jind is considered to be the nerve center of Haryana politics.
State BJP leader Rajiv Jain said the rally was part of 'Mission Vistaar' or to strengthen the party at the booth level and to gear up the cadre for polls.
