Ahead of International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is well-known for his love fo yoga, shared a video, detailing about Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose) and its health benefits, on Twitter. Take a look at the video below and learn how to do it, in case you don't know.
Here are some health benefits of Bridge Pose:
- It stretches the chest, neck, spine, and hips
- It improves circulation of blood and digestion
- It helps alleviate stress and mild depression
- It reduces backache, headache, fatigue, anxiety, and insomnia
- It also relieves symptoms of asthma and high blood pressure
Modi, who is an active and enthusiastic practitioner of yoga, begins his day with a surya namaskar and pranayam, followed by a set of other yoga exercises.
The idea of an International Day of Yoga was first proposed by PM Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, on 27 September 2014. Following this initial proposal, the UN General Assembly on 11 December 2014 adopted without a vote a resolution commemorating 21 June as the International Day of Yoga.
