Vinod Khanna dies of cancer - All you need to know about the condition that killed the veteran actor
Bladder is any types of cancer that start from the epithelial lining of the urinary bladder.
New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna has died on Thursday following a long battle with cancer.
The actor was suffering from advanced bladder cancer and was hospitalised in Mumbai.
Here are a few things to know about the disease that has claimed the life of the actor:

The most common symptom of bladder cancer is blood in your urine. Other symtoms of bladder cancer include -
- Pain during urination
- Frequent urination, or feeling the need to urinate without being able to do so
- Pelvic pain
- Bone pain
- Swelling of the legs

The exact cause of bladder cancer is unknown, however, tobacco smoking is the main known contributor to urinary bladder cancer in most populations. It's also linked with exposure to certain chemicals.
Treatments for bladder cancer include - surgery, biological therapy and chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, there's no way to completely prevent bladder cancer. But there are things you can do that might lower your risk:
- Not smoking
- Limiting exposure to certain chemicals in the workplace
- Drinking plenty of fluids, mainly water
- Eating lots of fruits and vegetables
The actor, who was also an active politician, was 70 years of age.
