Temperature plunged to minus 12 degree celsius in Kedarnath on Tuesday with incessant snowfall hitting the mountain shrine from evening.

Heavy snowfall began from the evening here and in a few hours, a seven-foot cover was recorded. Even as the temperature plunged, wind speed resulted in real-feel temperature falling even further.


The four holy Himalayan shrines - Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri - have received heavy snowfall in the last month as well. Pilgrims have been advised caution and local authorities are working towards ensuring safe passage.
