New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi, 100, passed away on Friday morning. She was admitted to U N Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad. Taking to his Twitter, PM Modi mourned the death of his mother in a series of tweets. He wrote in Hindi, "A glorious century rests at the feet of God... In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values."

After mother's demise, PM Modi leaves for Ahmedabad


After the unfortunate demise of his mother, PM Modi left for Ahmedabad where his mother was admitted. Initially, he was supposed to flag off Vande Bharat train in Howrah, Kolkata & other developmental works of railways and under Namami Gange in West Bengal. But now, he will be doing so through video conferencing, according to reports.


Earlier the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre had said that PM Modi's mother's health was improving. The Gujarat Chief Minister`s Office (CMO) in a statement had also said that Heeraben, who was admitted on Wednesday at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad, will be discharged soon.

Israeli Ambassador to India, Naor Gilon extended his `good wishes` to Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s mother Heeraben Modi after she was admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad."Praying for the good health & speedy recovery of PM @narendramodi`s mother Smt #HeerabenModi ji," Naor Gilon said in a tweet on Wednesday.


PM Modi took his mother's blessings ahead of Gujarat polls


Ahead of the recently held Gujarat assembly polls, the prime minister during campaigning had visited his mother who turned 100 this June. Heeraben had also cast her vote in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly polls.
