New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday (September 14, 2021) busted a terror module and arrested six people including two terrorists who were trained in Pakistan. Police also recovered explosives and firearms in this multi-state operation.
"Total six people including two Pak-trained terrorists have been arrested," the Delhi Police Special Cell informed.
The terrorists were allegedly planning several blasts across the country during the upcoming festivals, the Delhi Police Special Cell added.
"We have arrested one named Sameer from Kota, two persons from Delhi and three people from Uttar Pradesh. Out of the six people, two were taken to Pakistan via Muscat where they were trained in explosives and firearms including AK-47 for 15 days," the Delhi Police stated.
The accused, identified as Jaan Mohammad Shaikh (47) alias 'Sameer', Osama (22), Moolchand (47), Zeeshan Qamar (28), Mohd Abu Bakar (23) and Mohd Amir Javed (31), were arrested following raids in Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh, they said.
"They formed two teams - one was being coordinated by Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Anees Ibrahim, it was tasked to get the arms into India from across the border and keeping them concealed here. The other team was to arrange funding via Hawala," police informed further.
Among the arrested, Osama and Qamar, are Pakistan-trained terror operatives working under the instructions of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). They were tasked to conduct the reconnaissance of different suitable locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for placing IEDs, police said.
"The arrest of the four accused has exposed the nexus of Pakistan's ISI-sponsored and trained terror modules with underworld operatives and averted a slew of serial blasts and targeted killings in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states in India," Delhi Police said.
Delhi Police Special Cell also said that the arrested have stated that there were 14-15 Bangla speaking persons in their group who might have been taken for similar training.
"It looks like this operation was closely coordinated from across the border," Delhi Police Special Cell added.
The underworld operative Sameer, close contact of Anees Ibrahim, who is the brother of Dawood Ibrahim, was tasked by a Pak-based person connected with underworld operatives hiding in Pakistan, to ensure smooth delivery of improvised explosive devices (IED), sophisticated weapons and grenades to different entities in India.
Anees Ibrahim, who is presently based in Pakistan, is stated to be the underworld connect of this module, police said.
UP ATS busts ISI module, detains three
The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has also said that they have busted an ISI module by detaining three people and seizing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from them.
"UP ATS has bused an ISI sponsored module and detained three persons. The detentions were made during simultaneous raids in four districts -- Lucknow, Raebareli, Prayagraj (Allahabad) and Pratapgarh," Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said on Tuesday.
"In Prayagraj, one live IED was also recovered and bomb disposal squad is diffusing it," the officer added.
He stated that the three were being interrogated as police teams are trying to elicit more information.
