At least four terrorists were killed in an encounter that took place between security forces and terrorists on Saturday in Rajpora town of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The four bodies have been recovered, according to a police source. The operation has ended.


The terrorists are believed to be affiliated with terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM). The bodies have been retrieved and their identification is being ascertained. 


Meanwhile, clashes and stone pelting have erupted in the area following the encounter. A cache of arms and ammunition have also been recovered. 


A search operation was launched in the area after a tip-off that the terrorists were hiding in the area. Mobile internet services have been snapped in those areas.


Security forces cordoned off the area, said a police official. He said as the forces were conducting searches, the hiding militants fired upon them.


The forces retaliated, leading to the encounter, the official said.
