The 55-second long video, uploaded on Channel One's official Facebook page, shows Israeli television news anchor Geula fighting back tears and announcing on air that this would be her last show as the government has decided to shut the operations of her channel.

"We are now getting breaking news, a statement in Parliament...Actually, tonight will be our last news programme," the emotionally choked and visibly stunned anchor says in the video.

"This is our last edition," she continues in a shaky voice. "So the rest of this programme is irrelevant."

The Israeli anchor concludes by saying, "And at the end of the day a lot of people are going to lose their jobs." "I hope they find new jobs and public broadcasting continues to be strong. And if it exists in a different format."

The video, ever since it was first posted on May 9, has been watched over 345,000 times.

The video has been shared over 1,950 times and received 4,700 response from netizens.

According to the ''Daily Mail,'' Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had suddenly announced shutting down of the state-run broadcaster following a political battle, claiming the move as 'part of reforms to create a new replacement organisation', but he was criticised for ''trying to control the media'' by the channel's staff and his political rivals.
