Delhi: Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Tuesday said that it was very much in India's interest to build strong connectivity, in the widest possible sense with all neighbours.

He also said that public persona of the relationship between India and China "in my country is overly negative."


Talking about the US President he said, "In case of Donald Trump, I would say, don't rush to judgement, it is important to take him seriously," and added, "We should make greater effort at getting the more balanced picture and creating a more balanced picture as well."


Jaishankar further said, "Nothing has globalised more than terrorism, yet responses to it remain very tactical, national, therefore remain very limited. For example, if there is greater cooperation between US and Russia in dealing with Syria situation, it would be a good beginning." 


"Would characterise India-Russia relation as very unique, can't think of many relationships with that public resonance in country," he went on to say.
