  • Four COVID19 positive cases confirmed in Karnataka today. A 75-yr-old man in Bagalkote, a 70-yr-old in Belagavi, a 26-yr-old in Belagavi & a 20-yr-old  in Belagavi. The 3 from Belagavi, who tested positive, had attended Jamaat event in Delhi. Total positive cases in state is 128.

  • Four men were on Friday detained under the National Security Act (NSA) for the alleged attack on health workers in Indore.

  • The West Bengal health department, in its bid to dispel fears of virus transmission during cremation or burial of COVID-19 victims, has issued an advisory here contending that no such risk was involved in the process as officials were taking necessary precautions. The department also stated that there was no chance of airborne transmission as the disease spreads through droplets coughed or sneezed out by an infected patient.

  • The United Kingdom's death toll from the coronavirus rose by 684 to 3,605 as of 1600 GMT on April 2, up 23 percent on the previous day.

  • The Indian Railways has produced a total of 2.87 lakh masks and 25,806 litres of sanitisers till April 1 to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Ministry of Railways said.

  • Haryana Chief Secretary Keshni Anand Arora has directed the officers to ensure the supply of all essential commodities being given under the Public Distribution System (PDS) at the depots in each district by April 5, 2020.

  • Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the Delhi government has set up 328 relief centres in the national capital to accommodate 57,000 people amid the countrywide lockdown due to coronavirus.

  • The Supreme Court on Friday directed the union health secretary to have a meeting with the chief secretaries of Karnataka and Kerala to facilitate the movement of people for medical treatments in wake of coronavirus spread.

  •  Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday informed that Rs 100 crore will be allocated for ideas to combat coronavirus with immediate impact. "Action in the time of COVID-19: Rs 100 crore grant created to give wings to ideas that could combat coronavirus with immediate impact," Goyal tweeted.

  • 23 people have been arrested for gathering at a school to offer Friday prayers in Erattupetta, Kottayam district in Kerala. Five others, including a priest, were arrested and later released on bail for conducting Mass at a Church in Ernakulam district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his video message on Friday appreciated the discipline and patience shown by 130 crore Indians and said you are not alone in this fight against coronavirus COVID-19. He further asked Indians to light a candle, Diya, torch, mobile flash for 9 minutes on April 5 at 9 pm to dispel coronavirus COVID-19 darkness.


According to the latest Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data, the total number of coronavirus cases in India stands at 2301 out of which 2088 are active cases, 156 have been cured and 56 people have died. In the total tally, about 400 positive COVID-19 cases have been found whose epidemiological linkage can be traced to the Tablighi Jamaat cluster, said the Union Health Ministry while asserting that there was no evidence of widespread community transmission. Notably, 20 existing and 22 potential hotspots have been identified across the country.
